Power ratio means average electrical input divided by the entered full-load electrical input. It is not mechanical load percentage. Energy charges only; demand charges, time-of-use rates and fixed fees are excluded.

Formula and worked example
Annual kWh = full-load electrical input kW × average power ratio × hours/day × days/year. Annual energy charge = annual kWh × tariff. Savings multiply each baseline by the entered reduction percentage.
For 15 kW electrical input, an 80% average power ratio, 16 hours/day and 250 days/year, use is 48,000 kWh/year. At 0.15 currency/kWh, the energy charge is 7,200/year. An assumed 10% reduction corresponds to 4,800 kWh and 720 currency/year.
Measure electrical input
The power ratio is average electrical input divided by the entered full-load input. It is not the motor's mechanical load fraction. If you already know average input kW, enter that power and set the ratio to 100%.
Use a tariff appropriate to the measured period. Demand charges, power-factor penalties, taxes, fixed fees and time-of-use variation are excluded. For a project, validate the baseline over representative production and use the automation ROI calculator only after identifying realizable savings.
Frequently asked questions
Can I enter nameplate shaft kW?
This calculator expects electrical input. Divide shaft output by efficiency first, or measure input with an appropriate power meter.
Are the savings guaranteed?
No. The reduction is an input assumption. Verify the change with comparable production, operating hours and measured energy.
