Assumes independent parallel lanes, ideal cycle while running, and the entered availability and yield. If speed losses occur, use a demonstrated cycle or model performance separately.

Formula and worked example
Theoretical output = planned minutes × 60 / ideal seconds per unit × independent lanes. Expected good output = theoretical output × availability × good-unit yield, using fractions for the two percentages.
For 450 minutes, a 40-second cycle and one lane, theoretical output is 675 units. At 90% availability and 98% yield, expected good output is 595.35 units, or 595 whole units rounded down. The decimal is an expectation, not a promise to produce a fraction of a part.
Set the production boundary
Count parallel lanes only when they can genuinely produce independently. Three stations in series are not three lanes. A shared loader, test stand or operator can constrain nominally parallel machines. Use the constraint's effective rate and avoid deducting the same loss from both planned time and availability.
The model has no separate performance factor. If an ideal cycle understates real running time, either enter a representative sustained cycle or use OEE to account for speed losses explicitly.
Frequently asked questions
Does this calculate line capacity?
It estimates one operation or a set of independent parallel lanes. For a serial line, identify the limiting effective operation and check buffers, staffing, product mix and common downtime separately.
Why is the result rounded down?
Only complete good units can be delivered. The unrounded expectation is also shown so the rounding remains visible.
