First pass yield vs rolled throughput yield: expose the rework path
Calculate stage yield and cumulative first-time success, keep rework visible, and avoid averaging percentages across incompatible populations.
The product of consistent conditional first-pass yields along a defined process route.
For stages with first-pass yields 0.98, 0.95 and 0.97, the product is 0.90307, or 90.307%. Interpret the result only when stage populations and route boundaries are consistent. It is not the arithmetic average of stage percentages or final yield after rework. See the worked yield guide.

A worked shift example separates customer pace, observed process speed and end-to-end delivery time, with practical checks before changing the line.
Use a time observation sheet to separate internal and external work, preserve safe setup steps, and verify a repeatable changeover improvement.
