OT backup & restore test template

A CSV exercise record for backup identity, recovery objectives, isolated target, elapsed time, validation and unresolved gaps.

Download the OT backup & restore test template (CSV). Opens in spreadsheet applications; no email or signup required. Fields and an explicitly labeled example row are included. Replace the example before use.

Use a documented, approved exercise plan and a suitable isolated target. Record the backup identity and revision so another engineer can reproduce the test. The example objectives are placeholders, not universal recovery requirements.

Define objectives and checks

Recovery point objective concerns acceptable data or configuration loss. Recovery time objective concerns elapsed time to the agreed service boundary. Decide whether the exercise tests an offline project, a restored runtime or integrated behavior, and state the expected observations before starting.

Record actual evidence

Capture start and finish timestamps, compatibility checks, dependencies resolved, selected validation results and limitations. Missing licenses, device files or credentials are gaps to assign and resolve through the site's approved processes. Keep secrets out of the worksheet.

Close the loop

A successful file copy or offline opening is narrower than operational recovery. Report the tested boundary accurately. Assign owners and retest dates to unresolved findings, and update the backup process after approved changes.
