OT backup and restore testing: prove the recovery path
Inventory the files and dependencies needed to recover a control system, set recovery objectives, and test restoration on an isolated target.
The target maximum acceptable loss of data or configuration history following an interruption.
RPO concerns how current the usable recovery point must be. It differs from recovery time objective, which concerns elapsed time to restore the agreed service. A backup’s date alone does not prove it is usable or matches the installed approved revision. Document both objectives in the restore-test worksheet.
